Exact Date to put up your Christmas Decorations

Posted by Afolabi Akeredolu on

The festive season is right around the corner, but what is the exact date Brits should be putting up their Christmas decorations?

According to electrical wholesaler ERF, most households will deck the halls on Sunday 28th November this year — exactly 27 days before Christmas day. It might seem early for some, but this fits in with traditions that decorations should be put up at the beginning of Advent (four weeks before Christmas).

Elsewhere in their research, ERF also found that younger people put their decorations up earlier, with those under 35 choosing to decorate their homes 29 days before Christmas. As well as this, the most festive place to spend the holidays is in Swansea, while those living in Shropshire, Renfrewshire and Lothian leave it the longest.

When it came to the type of trees Brits buy, over 68% of people opt for an artificial tree they can reuse every year, while 6% of Brits don't even bother to put one up at all.
